COCA-COLA SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT HAWKYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY

(Cedar Rapids, IA 9/10/07)—The 2007 regular season comes to a close at Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday night with “Coca-Cola Season Championships.”

Drivers and race teams have been chasing points all season in the Papa Johns Cup I-Wireless Championship at the ASA-Sanctioned facility and on Friday night champions will be named in the Budweiser Sportsmen, Miller Time Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, and IMCA Sportmods.

While some titles have already been decided what happens Friday night
will determine the final positions in the points chase with some very close battles in the top five of each division..

In the Budweiser Sportsmen, Dave McCalla holds a 12 point lead over
Andy Duggan heading into the final race. McCalla has eight trips to Coca-Cola Victory Lane this season.

Tim Plummer has just about wrapped up his fourth Miller Time Modifieds title and holds a nine point lead over Arlo Becker. Chad Willet is in third, ten points behind Plummer.

Bob Ahrendsen holds a thirteen point cushion in the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars. Doug Otto sits in second while Kurt Bohnsack is third one point behind Otto. Ahrendsen has one victory this season but posted high finishes in nearly every race which has kept him on top of the point chart almost all season.

Tim Dains has a ten point lead over Gary Pfantz in the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks but still must finish the final race to lay claim to the title.

The Sunline Hornets have the closest points race of any division with Brian Beaty holding a two point edge on teammate Shaun Myers. This division will certainly come down to the checkered flag to determine the champion.

Another extremely close race is in the IMCA Sportmods although due to the number of cars running in this division Tony Olson will most likely clinch the title once he takes the green flag. Ryan Luedtke is six points behind Olson with Arnie Reif one point farther back.

Drivers will be introduced to the crowd on the front stretch prior to each
feature. As it is Season Championship night extra laps will be added to each race as well.

Gates open at 6pm with Racing slated for 7pm. Adults are $10, Students (12-17 ) and Seniors (62+) are $7, and Children are just $1.00.
