SPI Drivers Collect Over $51,000 in Awards
An estimated crowd of 700 drivers, crew members and fans attended
the Simmons Promotions 2002 awards banquet on Saturday, January 18th
at the Palace ballroom at the Farley Speedway.
The top ten point finishers in each division at the three SPI operated
weekly NASCAR sanctioned tracks were recognized and received plaques.
In addition point fund monies were paid to all drivers in the top
twenty in each class by NASCAR. In addition over $26,000 dollars were
paid to drivers who took part in the two track program. The two track
point fund monies were paid to drivers who raced both the Farley Speedway
and the Dubuque County Fairgrounds Speedway. The two track point fund
monies were sponsored by SPI, The East Dubuque Savings Bank, Vallet
Food Service and a host of associate sponsors.
The combination of the two track point fund money and the NASCAR
point fund pushed the total of point funds to well over $51,000 for
the drivers 2002 accomplishments.
The 2003 season will get underway with SPIs first racing event
being the annual Spring Championships on Saturday, April 5th at the
West Liberty Raceway located on the Muscatine County Fairgrounds in
West Liberty, Iowa.
The 2003 tentative schedule is available and can be seen on the
SPI website at simmonspromotionsinc.com.
